Switzerland Day 3: The one where Santiago, Julia, and I almost missed the train

I think today was by far the best day in Switzerland.  The sun was shining all day and the weather was perfect for going to the Alps.

To get to the Alps we had to take about a 2 hour train ride.  During the trip, I got to see more of the country side of Switzerland, as well as an amazing mixture of architecture.  One thing that really stood out to me though was the amount of solar panels.  It's incredible how sustainable the people here are, from their use bikes and public transportation to encouraging the use of reusable water bottles and energy.

A train change later and we finally arrived at the Alps.  Just seeing them from the street down below was absolutely breath taking.  However it was nothing compared to standing on the top of them and just seeing mountains and snow for miles.  It's honestly hard to describe but everything was so beautiful and I probably could've stayed there for hours just looking out at the horizon.  Going tubing was so much fun, but I really enjoyed riding the ski lift.  Up there was so quiet, peaceful, and serene; I just got to stop and really take it all in and appreciate that I was there.

With the excitement of being in the Alps and all of the different things to do it's easy to loose track of time.  This is pretty much what happened to Santiago, Julia, and I.  We thought we were going to be down the mountain in time but quickly realized that wasn't going to happen.  So we started planning how to get to the train station while up in the cable car.  As soon as the doors open we started running.  We were out of breathe and red in the face but we made it with time to spare!

After the long day, food was a necessity.  A few girls and I headed to Burrito District where we learned that "nachos" are really chips and salsa.  We also tried the little wine bar Santiago recommended, which was very good.  While we're there we got a  wonderful reading and interpretive dance of Marina's blog for today too, which was hilarious.

Today was pretty much the perfect day. I am sad to be leaving Switzerland, but I am so excited for all the adventures yet to come!

(Pics to come once I figure out this new page!)
